Lowering spindles?

I've located some lowering spindles. The spindle arms come with both spindles for the 1.0" or 1.25" thickness rotors. The problem is I would have to pressout the spindle from the arms and press in the correct spindle for my truck. Is this common?

Options=
Change out the spindles to fit and weld the spindle from the back side?
Hold off and find the right ones.

What determines the rotor size difference? Is there a rule of thumb?
Small block= 1.0"?
Big block1.25"?
Long bed 1.25"?
Tow package 1.25"
Mine is a shortbed L6 so I'm thinking I have the 1.0". It's too cold out for me to check tonight.
