Problems after carb install :(

I installed a new carb today on my '75 1/2 ton (350/TH350). It is a Carter 625 cfm (same as Edlebrock 1406). It was previously used but only for a short time.

After I got it in, it seemed to run fine. We took it for a test drive and I noticed it cutting out right when I would hit the throttle hard and then it would be fine. I got out on a major road and hit it hard and it was great!!! Drove fine for awhile. Then, got do an intersection and it died! Well, made it home driving with two feet and it turns out the vaccum advance hose came off the distributor. So, put that back on (gotta get a new one tomorrow) and it seemed to be ok. However, to get it started now I have to step on the throttle all the way and then have to give it gas to get it going. Then, it will run for a short time and then die. I have checked for all vacuum lines to make sure there is nothing not capped.

Questions
1. What can I check to fix the stalling problem? What could it be?
2. What can I check to fix the "cutting out" problem when I hit the throttle hard real quick?

Thanks in advance!
