clutch question

I just installed new clutch in my 69 chevy 305 with saginaw 3-speed. However, when i put it in gear and push in the clutch the truck still doesn't move. it's acting like the it is still in gear (or rather the clutch is still engaged). I tightened the linkage and am getting good pressure on the pedal. it is a mechanical system (not hydraulic). With the pedal not pressed the throw out bearing is flush up against flywheel. Then i press the pedal and get good movement. I installed clutch disk correctly. torqued flywheel.

Is there something different with the saginaw 3-speed? i thought if i am in gear and push the clutch the truck should roll. I just want to make sure it is working right. I can't start the engine cause i just did an overhaul and havent got everything hookd up

This happened last time a changed a clutch out in my 88 GMC 4X4. wierd
