Howdy from south texas

Hello,
My names is Jason Saldana. I'm from a south texas boder town, McAllen, TX. I'm 24 and I own a 69 C10. At this time it is painfully stock ha. Its a stepside 3 speed I6 2wd with coil springs all the way around.
Truck has been in the family since the mid 70s. This is my dads truck that he grew up driving. We are getting ready to get it daily driver ready for my dad who will be retiring in the coming years. I want the truck to be comfortable to drive 5-6 hrs for hunting or crusing.

Here's the plan:
Grab a running and driving 73-87 4wd/350/4 speed truck.

Shorten the frame and build new body mounts for the 69 body.

I like the idea of using the newer body since I want the PS/ AC/ and disk brakes. Also the fuel tank will already be under the truck. I will be putting bucket seats from a 99+ silverado once the gas tanks not in the cab.
This will be a slow moving process since I have to find a 73+ that has everything I want in my pice range.
