steering column rebuild

Any one rebuilt a 64 steering column? I have a 64 k10 and the shaft can just wiggle around inside the column, I took everything apart to fix the turn signals and when taking everything out i found metal dust inside because the shaft just hangs and rubs in side the shaft. will a rebuild fix this? i am guessing i must be missing an upper bearing to keep the shaft in place. is this a fixable issue? or should i just order a replacement column from flaming river or somewhere else?
