Oh my, Denee007 or 007, are those swirl markings on the main carrier from the pinion gear touching it, if so, I'd say the engine miss saved you from making a trip that could have been disastrous.

I may have missed this earlier but, what gear ratio did this have?

I also am going to run a 3:08, and running a slightly larger diameter tire for the same reason, lower highway rpm and better gas mileage.

Hang in there, once this axle thing is all straightened out, you will be able to drive with the utmost confidence.
