Removed gauge clusters from '52

Well, I bit the bullet today and removed my gauge clusters from my '52 Chevy 3100. It was actually easier that I expected, but no way would I call it easy since it took me about three hours. I have the stickers to reface them and new bezels and gaskets to reinstall. Is there anything I should do to the speedometer prior to reinstalling? I have heard people talk about lubing them. Is that something I should do? If so, how and with what? Also, how would I lube the speedometer cable?

Thanks
