EFI conversion

I have done some searches on this but haven't found what I've been hoping for. I'm installing a LT1 from a 95 Caprice into my 71 step side. I understand that this is essentially a stand alone system. Conceptually the "truck wiring" will be used for lights, accessories, etc. However, how do you " mate" the two systems? Is it as simple as running power from the key back to the appropriate wire in the fuse block to power the Efi system? Any sites you may recommend that detail this would be appreciated.
