Does Performance Suspension Have To Be Low?

Could a truck be set up for autocross and perform well and not be in the weeds? I am referring to a 5/7" drop and below as in the weeds. Frame rail lower then 7" from the ground. Does a couple inches lower really make a big difference in performance?

This all stemmed from watching KC's video of his truck. His truck doesn't seem low and it looked like it performed well.

Thanks
