What did I do wrong???? Ahhhhh!!!!

On my 64 I did a pwr steering conversion using capt. fab's bracket kit. I didn't pay attention to the center link to frame clearance before
removing the old manual box. I have about 1/4 in clearance...after cleaning all the dirt of the frame and center link.
It's gotta be too close. I can't believe I set the template too low to mark the holes for mounting the box......at least I don't think
I did as i'm very very careful with stuff like this (at the dealership I work at, I do a lot of installs that require templates like spoilers etc.)

My questions are:
1. Is the box sitting too low?

2. Can I just grind the back side of the center link slightly flat to increase clearance without making it unsafe?

3. Is the new pitman are up far enough?
