Choke question between carb rebuilds....

Ok...the choke cable pulls in and pushes out just fine if it’s not connected to the carb choke lever. Carb choke lever flips up and down just fine if it’s not connected to the choke cable. Once the cable is connected to the lever, pulling the choke knob out is quite difficult. I’ve attached a pic of the current set-up. He’p me!!! Somebody he’p me!!!!! (With apologies to GEICO and Little Richard)
