Compass in my C30

I have a pretty neat ol compass on the dash of my C30. It has one of those cradle contraptions that swivels around kind of like one of those fancy cup holders for boats. I took it off the dash and took it all apart. I was thinking I would find out how to refill the fluid in the orange part.

When I took it apart I just flipped it over and let the pieces fall out. I had no idea there would be gears, two with adjuster's that poked through the bottom of the cup, and little tiny magnets with white paint on each tip.

Doing a search hasn't yielded a how to on putting Humpty Dumpty back together again ... Anyone else take something like this apart and reassembled successfully?

Brand name is Aquamark

EDIT: I do know that the little magnets go into the slots on the gears, just unsure which way.
