HOK Tangelo Pearl
I have heard many people say this color is good looking. Does anyone have any pics of vehicles painted this color? Thanks.

Re: HOK Tangelo Pearl
Thats the color I'm going with on mine, already have the paint just need to do the bodywork on my new (well, new to me) 68 front clip. If you like Orange, I do not think there is a nicer looking Orange than this.

Re: HOK Tangelo Pearl
I was actually planning on going with tangelo pearl on my truck until I saw it in real life, Tangelo pearl is definately a beutiful color but it was a wee bit to yellow for me so thats when I picked the color I actually used, Good luck with the decision.

Re: HOK Tangelo Pearl
55 Chevy what color did you end up using? I was wondering if Tangelo looked like the color in your avatar or if it was lighter with more yellow as you say. Pics can alter the true look of the color by quite a bit, and I am after a meduim metallic orange, not a lighter shade prefereably. Thanks for the help guys.

Re: HOK Tangelo Pearl
It's not a car but this will give you another idea of what HOK Tangelo Peral looks like. This was shot over a white base. If it's shot over a gold base it becomes very yellow...

Re: HOK Tangelo Pearl
What I like best about Tangelo is that it looks orange and where the sun or light hits it it looks yellow because of the pearl in it.

55ChevyPU - That ain't a blown Chevette in the background is it?
Nice truck, I really like the tri-fives. A buddy of mine had one that he wanted to trade me about 12 years ago for my 72 k10. I probably should have done it, oh well...too late now. Mike |

Re: HOK Tangelo Pearl
Ok so what makes the pearl part of the color? Is the pearl in the clear? I like the tangelo orange shade, but would prefer it not to turn yellowish when the sun hits it. That being said, could I use a tangelo base and just apply a regular clear, or is this just not going to work for me?

basecoat topcoat/candy clearcoat the base is an opaque background color, thats all. It is there so when you paint the candy you dont see different shades and such due to different colors behind the candy. The candy is a semi transparent paint that goes over the basecoat, it gives that really vibrant non flat looking color. Pearl is mixed in with this. Finally the clearcoat is what protects the paint from foreign debree it makes the paint really shiney and if you wetsand it you can get a mirror finish.
