high miles
I have been looking at 99+ trucks and have seen quite a few with 100k+ miles. Are these trucks dependable with miles this high, or should I keep looking for something with lower miles. The ones I am looking at are 5.3 4x4.

Re: high miles
MY 2000 has 150,000 and runs super. I think a lot has to do with how they were used and maintained. The 5.3 is solid. the transmissions tend to need attention on the valve body's after a while. The bodies are much better then the previous as these have like galvanization under the paint. The 4 wheel disc brakes are much better as well. My .02

Re: high miles
I am not a fan of the weak 5.3 or the gas guzzler 6.0. However they both seem to be 200k engines!!!!
I prefer the pre-2000 5.7. With those you will need to see if it has had the intake manifold gasket changed, and the trannys are good normaly only to about 150k unless its a Suburban (then its 100k max) Oh yea...Huck is correct...the brakes are better on the 2000 and up!!! Re: high miles
thats what i was hoping to hear...I would be getting a 99+ with a 5.3. right now, i have to figure out the financing. I just bought an 05 Grand Prix and trade-in would have me losing $5k in 4 mos. so i am trying to sell the car so i can get a truck.

Re: high miles
I have a 00 GMC RCLB with the 4.8 v8. It has descent power and averages 19mpg. I have gotten as many as 22 mpg on the highway. I rebuilt the tranny at 160,000 miles. It now has 168,000 and runs great with no smoke or oil useage.

Re: high miles
I'd stay away from the '99 and most 2000 trucks. They had a lot of tranny and miscelaneous problems that were worked out by '01. With that said I have a '00 5.3L Z71 with 86K on the clock and runnin strong. The 5.3 is a weak motor??? Coulda fooled me.
