Dually is bagged in the front for now this pic was taken right after I flipped her around to get the back end in for notching and rear air, probably AOL with something more elaborate once my proper operating theater is free of the friends mini truck in there now

That is funny. I was actually trying to find my buckets to put my bulbs back in so it looked a little more like a runner.

I also did a post on installing the flip kit in the suspension forum, otherwise search for RunninLo on photobucket and go to my albums. Ignore the goofy pictures of my big noggin from when Alan's Classic visited. Those seem to pop up first. I'll get some more updates on her as she progresses. it's a little tight for pics in my lil garage,

Well I have still been working on structural improvements (electrical,insulation, drywall) to shop so not much in the way of burb work. It has also been cold as heck here to make things worse. I did start fitting the Uni-steer column in place. I have the parts to do a two piece shaft but looks like I may get away with doing it in a single piece.


it's a tight fit andI may need to remove the sheild from the factory manifold. worst case I'll have to cut it down to two and throw in the extra u-joint and shaft support.
I have jury Duty (yay,lol) so probably another couple weeks before anything else.

Would shorty headers get you more steering linkage room?
Seems like those manifolds drop down right in the way.

probably. I had been debating waiting but it would be sooo much easier to move with the steering hooked up. guess I should start header shopping.

Love the work, you have a very sick looking burb so far. Do you know what you're going to do about the drive shaft? are you going to use a carrier bearing? does the tub need to be channeled because its so low? sorry for all the questions, Ive just been thinking about using pretty much the same setup as you have for my burb.

I have the non-2link carrier xmember that Porterbuilt sells to compliment the rear. I plan to have a new driveshaft made specifically for the burb as it is now. It will use a later model carrier bearing.

I did manage to get the steering hooked up and functional although I still need to make a support bracket for the idler. I realized that I had enough double D bar to do it twice if needed so I just went for it. It is set up very similar to a double cardan at the column with the idler pretty much right above the rear bolt for the upper control arm.

As I mentioned in an earlier post alot of the work has been postponed while doing insulating and sheet rock for my garage. To make room most of my treasures were in a bull pen area of sorts of the side of my house. It is shielded from view on 3 sides. I thought everything was tucked away quite nicely but appearantly some busy-body thought other wise. A love note from my local county agency offering to scrap all my goodies for free arrived recently and so drywall plans have been put on hold while I move everything back inside. Only good thing to come from it was I was one stall short and so the Mrs. let me get a 4 post lift. Here is a shot a friend requested with the dually and 'burb modeling.

The dually will go back outside since it is running and papered the county can't say anything about it but my 4runner and beetle will both fit under so that is a bonus

Well Jon you have seen my place. I have a decrative concrete driveway with side pad for my trailer and the bull pen area I mentioned was backed on one side by my 10'foot high storage shed, another by my 17' garage wall , and the third by 12' tall lilac bushes that are too thick to see through. I have the fencing to shield it from view from the side facing Reserve but never got a chance to put it up. There were 3 vehicles which were neatly parked side by side. One of them was running driving, registered, insured and the only reason it was there was to keep it off the street so it wasn't tying up a parking space. I have spoken verbally and shaken the hand of every resident on my block being very up front about what I do, what my intentions are and if there are changes such as the drywall project they all know in advance. I have been told who it was and the coward has told me to my face that everything is cool while filing complaints behind my back. The only saving grace here is the county enforcement officer has been very cool and has only taken action to the extent that I am actually breaking the law. Are just about everyone in the area doing the same to a certain extent? Yeah. I'm lucky enough that I had room to move the non-compliant rigs inside and didn't have to sell anything although coincidentally Heather did sell her '72 scout this week.

more that quite a few people in our area here have multiple vehicles at thier places.
there is a guy I know over on 10th that has about 10+ vehicles, he just put permanent plates on all of them, and every now and then shuffels them around.

Your sub looks cool lay'd out! With it on the lift and your dually under it, how tall is you ceilings to get that to fit?

I haven't put tape to it but if the contractor did his job right the bottom of the trusses should be 12' up.
The lift is a Danmar D-7X. since i plan to use it mostly for the extra parking space it didn't seem worth it to buy a pricier brand. I got it from Northern Tool catalog. Northern's customer service was excelent and the lift is perfect so far. I did have one issue though. The Caster kit was a very important part of the purchase for me since I will need to move it around from time to time. As I unpacked and began checking items off the parts list I had every single piece but the actual casters. Now the freight company had done a pretty good job with it but it did have a few spots in the shrink wrap where a part or two could've fallen out. There was nothing on the packing list to indicate that the casters hadn't been shipped. I placed a call to Danmar and the guy that answered the phone informed me that the casters were on back order for 90 days. I politely asked why there was no communication to that fact and got sort of a "tough luck, buddy" answer.

I wouldn't let it stop me from buying the lift again but I definitely wasn't impressed.

I have about 6-8" from the roof of the burb to the lights but the frame of the burb is actually hanging about a half inch BELOW the deck between the runways . Theres also approx 8-10" between the Dually roof and the bottom of the runways. Stock height vehicles may not have fit as well.

I am really interested in more on the rear "dropmember", I've read all the threads on it including all the ones started by Nate. I can't decide if I should use his trailing arm setup or the 4 link, common sense says 4 link but hey I've been wrong in the past.

Sadly, other than moving the lift to about where I was standing when I took those last pictures it is in pretty much the same spot holding the lift down. A '63 Impala SS has taken up living underneath to keep it company though. The duallys have taken up a ton of my time the last few months and I have been workin on MY V30 Crew cab putting in a lift and 315/75/16's. It has been sub 20 degrees for about a month and the Mrs. talked me into remodeling her kitchen so no garage stuff until well into 2011.
