This is tempting and your so close. Any mods need to be done to the tranny since it came from a awd vehicle and will be installed in a 2wd 81 k5?

That Im aware of, You would need to swap the input shaft to the 2wd which is not a big deal for a transmission shop. I know of a couple different places in the valley that will do it for minimal cost.

This would make a great addition to my Jimmy, however the other half doesn't share the same opinion. Still working on it though.
