Guys, need some help
So this is the fwd most part of my frame on a truck a purchased awhile back. I'm thinking this isn't supposed to be like this. I don't see any cracks and the truck drives straight with no pulling either way side to side. Can this be repaired if it's not normal?? Thx

Re: Guys, need some help
That took one hard hit , If it's not affecting you steering drive it until you can find a replacement .Take a good look at the mounting bolts to see if they may be bent .

Re: Guys, need some help
Thank you, I figured as much. Am I going to have to replace the frame or can just that part be replaced??

Re: Guys, need some help
If the drag link isn’t rubbing that bent area and there are no apparent cracks or sheared bolts i’d run it as is. That is if you aren’t intending to do a complete restoration. For a driver it should be just fine.

Re: Guys, need some help
I can't imagine that hit. Are there bite marks on the steering wheel?

Re: Guys, need some help
If it drives strait and there is no accelerated tire wear you are probably good. The cross member is not too bad to change. If you are real concerned with it,get a body shop to X it out to see if the frame is square. This is where thwy measure from two common points with a tram gauge. Shouldn't cost much.

The old tires I took off didn't seem to have any unusual wear pattern. Thanks for the info on the frame measurements. I'll to see if there's a body shop in this town that could possibly do it.

Re: Guys, need some help
That was a very a hard hit. Most likely saved your entire bottom end, one of the reasons I still drive mine with the hazards out there today.

I grew up outside of Chicago. Probably the reason when I retired from the military I decided somewhere warm was a much better option.

Re: Guys, need some help
Funny thing is I had a title search done and it shows no accidents or salvage titles. I've had the truck only a couple months
138k miles according to the vehicle history
