Re: 72 C20 "Old Mustard"

No updates, Fellas. Summer projects are carrying over to winter projects. The garage pretty much looks like it did in the last picture, full of cabinets and Mustard. Thanks for checking in, though.

Re: 72 C20 "Old Mustard"

Hey!

Sitting around the ski lodge while the kids are skiing drinking way too much coffee and getting caught up on other folk's build threads. I'm here to report absolutely NO progress on Mustard!!!

Got something going wrong with the front end of the mighty Taurus Wagon (again), a stuck engaged starter and two dead batteries in Blue Bell, a kitchen half done, and stuff piling up on poor old Mustard. Fortunately, reading about other peoples truck project progress serves to motivate me to get the rest of the stuff done so I can get back at Mustard.

Or maybe its just that I've had too much coffee.....

Re: 72 C20 "Old Mustard"

Give me a couple months to get this dang kitchen done and I'll take you up on the offer. Hoping to be "mechanically complete" with the kitchen by mid April.

Work has been very busy lately too. That, and the other crap we drive seems to always have issues making it through the winter. Busy at work is a good problem. Fixing daily drivers not so much.

Re: 72 C20 "Old Mustard"

Well, it's not a Mustard update, but we did manage to get my Dad's vintage 1973 Simplicity Yeoman yard tractor running over the weekend. He got it from a neighbor who was moving. Her deceased husband had been working on it a bit, but it had sat outside next to their garage for several years. Pop's been working on it all winter, particularly the frame and mower deck (it's gonna be his lawn mower this summer). We were going to haul it to a small engine place on Saturday, but the place was closed, so we started messing with the engine and got it to pop off after about 3.8 seconds of cranking. Pretty awesome! Pop was pretty excited, and so were my brother and I. Now all he has to do is get the mower deck done before the grass grows. Obviously from the picture, he doesn't need to worry about that for a while.

Second picture is a '91 Blazer I'm thinking of trading Blue Bell (the '87 diesel K20) for. The diesel has had some troubles this winter with the starter sticking engaged while cranking and running the battery all the way down and just the cold weather in general. Plus, it doesn't haul 4, so doesn't make a good backup vehicle for the family. I don't haul enough any more to make the diesel an advantage. Getting rid of it would put all the hauling duties back on Mustard (and a little utility trailer behind one of the other cars), so I better get back to getting Mustard done.

Actually, I better get back to the kitchen. There's some less than perfect mud that needs to be finished up and painted.

Re: 72 C20 "Old Mustard"

Thanks, Fellas.

Stop rubbing it in George! Winter up here gets pretty old this time of year. Every time you think that last really cold spell has gone through for the year, another one comes along. And then it's May...

But, it all makes Spring that much more appreciated!

Argh....

You know, they should give you the option to rotate your photos after you attach them wrong. The world has plenty of other ways to compensate for less than brilliant actions...

Re: 72 C20 "Old Mustard"

Definitely getting the itch to get back to work on Mustard instead of everything else. Trying to go through my parts just to figure out what I have and what I don't. I thought I had all the bolts/nuts for mounting the leaf springs (somewhat oddball 9/16" stuff), but I don't see them anywhere.
