Re: Block sanding. How am I doing?
Thanks so much for your help....as you can tell...never done this before. I think Im sanding too much because I seem to keep going down to metal in places...may be my technique. So will epoxy then 2k again and start with 220 then 320.
This my seem ignorant but Im not repriming in between grits......is this where I may be messing up?

Re: Block sanding. How am I doing?
Well reprimed with epoxy then 2 good coats of 2k high build and started sanding away...first with 220 then 320.. I did sand down to the epoxy is a couple of places but not metal....I stayed away from the edges as best I could and used really light pressure.
I also found a couple of pin holes while sanding and spread some glazing putty then continued to sand. Before I primed everything I ran water over the pieces and washed them to get all the sanding dust off. I did not notice any glaring areas that looked funny ...kinda simulating the gloss. So now that Im down to 320....do I need to put more 2k on the areas that went to the epoxy? Im planning on sanding with 400 then 600 before color. My truck was originally 521 white and I will be going back with the original color. I really do appreciate all the help.

Re: Block sanding. How am I doing?
Glazing putty? What exactly do you mean by "glazing putty"??
Is it red, drys by letting the air to it OR is it something like Metal Glaze from Evercoat?? This is important because if you used the red air dry stuff, you're going to have to sand it out of there.

Re: Block sanding. How am I doing?
Yeah...I know its kinda getting thin after sanding with 220 then 320...guess that's why I hit epoxy in a few places...Figured I would just give it another coat of 2k high build...Better to be safe than sorry.

Re: Block sanding. How am I doing?
Don't ever wet sand slick sand/polyester primer; only dry sand . 2k can be wet sanded.

Re: Block sanding. How am I doing?
It is a great primer and I also have been using it forever without any problems and I have only dry sanded it The tech sheet says nothing about wet or dry sanding; I did call their tech line about 8 months ago and the guy I talked with said I would not recommend wet sanding. That is all I am going by.

Re: Block sanding. How am I doing?
it's all good , I can't imagine sanding it with 600 either! I prefer wet any day over dry. I like to get everything all squared up with slick sand finish with 180 and then go to the 2K and wet sand and paint. I don't like to seal on the restoration jobs.
