Re: Part time job ideas
My dad worked at a small Ace Hardware after he retired. He really loved that job. But the big box hardware came in to town and Ace closed down. The same thing happened here with our Ace when Lowes came in. My wife suggested I go there and apply, but Id like to be able to control my hours a little better than they probably let you.

I delivered pizza for Dominoes nearly 10 years as a side gig... It was pretty cool really, averaged 15 bucks an hour while driving my giant stereo around town.

Re: Part time job ideas
Around my house, that would be a good way to divest myself of my assets, then, I would need a full time job.

If I was accused of such a h-anus crime, I would demand her pants be removed for evidence. Verify hand prints... I'd need all the help I could get.

Re: Part time job ideas
I've retired twice, and from full time work at 62. Since then I've driven as a courier for a hospital, a shuttle service to and from the airport, a gig at a local hot rod shop, and repairing/building model ships.
The driving was fun until people on the road starting getting rude, dangerous, and road rage has become a "thing". I remember when someone annoyed you, you flipped them off, (or they flipped you off), but five minutes later it's forgotten. Today it's different. The hot rod shop became too much creeping, twisting, and bending that this old worn out body didn't like. The model building is a good thing, on a bench, inside, tunes, coffee, and own hours, but the pay makes it a good hobby. If I were ten years younger - OK, 15 years younger I'm pretty sure I'd look at the dustless blasting you see advertised on Motortrend. Set your hours, be selective about jobs, and maybe even wrangle a municipal contract cleaning buildings, trucks, bridges. I think I'd like that.

Holy Smokes, that mode ship biz is a racket! Ima tell my youngest brother about that. He already builds models and is damned good at it.

Re: Part time job ideas
I wish him well! The problem is, the weeks even months it takes to build an accurate model ship from scratch doesn't translate to a lot of $$ per hour. There's no instant gratification, and the clients willing to pay for a long commission are pretty illusive.

Re: Part time job ideas
The dustless blasting is no joke. My brothers old boss at the hot rod shop went into a side business with another guy doing the dustless blasting. They had two set ups, one that was on a large trailer and had everything to go with you and the other was a small portable one they could do doors or a hood at the shop with. It's been pretty successful, and once you get it figured out if your just blasting the rust off an old frame you can damn near do it in just a pair of boots and rain pants.
