I went with the boyd coddington "junk yard dogs", 18 X 8 with 4.5" back spacing in the front and 20 X 10 with 6" back spacing in the back. I am going to change the rear tires because it appears that the front have more sidewall than the backs. ....................tires are the nitto 555's........I will post the size when and if I am ever satisfied with the size.

Re: 59 Chevy Build

Man, my wife would kill me if I put parts inside our house and on a bed. Either you’re not married or you have one great wife! The builds looking really good, keep up the good work!

It is the latter.........my wife is very tollerable with my "habits"....I am a toy junkie. She will sand, grind, and strip paint when ever needed. Anytime that I reference "we" on this build, it is just her and I doing it. She did just say today...."I think this will be the last build we do"..............I just nodded and said, "you missed a spot"............life is good!..............

Re: 59 Chevy Build

The only thing I can get my wife to help with is stripping wallpaper... so "I" can paint!

Yes, that is a Super Chipmunk. Just one of my other addictions. I had to sell off some of the planes so I could store more truck parts...

Sweet looking frame. Have you concidered powder coating instead of painting it?

I have considered powder coating, however, I am going to go with a good epoxy primer then PPG Concept single stage paint. The reason for this decision is, first of all it is what I used on my other '59 and it holds up great. It is very durable and adheres better than any other paint I have sprayed. Also, it flows very nice and looks like it is clear-coated even before you buff it. Additionally, it is a lot easier to touch it up if you do get an chip in it. It is very expensive paint, but, I think it is worth it in the long run. BTW, this is the same paint that I am going to shoot the body with.

Re: 59 Chevy Build

Wow, what a tedious process. I forgot how time consuming doing the frame really was. I told my wife that this is the "last" build that I will do. And I am serious, until the next one.................... Well now that the frame is painted, this build should go at light speed. I didn't finish the back 1/4 section due to still waiting on the "c" section to arrive.

Re: 59 Chevy Build

Okay, now I feel that I have moved into the more "fun" phase of this build. Most of the dirty work is done and now it is pure progress. Today I began bolting the front suspension onto the frame. Hopefully this is the last time that I will have to be installed for awhile. This weekend I plan on having the motor back in and the "c" notch is on it's way so maybe (since it is a long weekend ) I can finish the back section of the frame................

Re: 59 Chevy Build

Made a little more progress today...........set the motor in and the rear air shocks. The "c" notch kit is supposed to be here on Thursday so the plan now is to have the frame finished and start plumbing in some of the fuel delivery system and .........have the cab ready and set back on the frame.......

Re: 59 Chevy Build

Well I got the cab back on the frame today, however, it wasn't without a price. The cab started sliding off of the dolly and thank goodness that my foot was there to stop it otherwise I might have had a dent to fix............hell the toe will heal, dents don't...................

Re: 59 Chevy Build

Well just a quick update on the progress.................seems like it has been a long time since I have posted on here. Anyway, I am still working on all the tedious, time consuming things that have to be done. I hope to have the front all back together by this weekend and finish the wiring. Here are a couple of current pics.....................
