Re: Jake of All Trades 1964 BBW LWB.
I use 16 gauge for floors if I make my own patches.
For door skin or fender I use 18 gauge. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Jake of All Trades 1964 BBW LWB.
Finlay got a chance to get a few things done last weekend.
I had a guy at my old job laser me out an open end wrench for them hard to reach u-bolt nuts on the Porterbuilt trailing arms. It made it so much easier. ![]() Got most of everything finished on the rear end barks and suspension minus the air lines ![]() Got most of the front brake lines done too. ![]() |

Would you all put the cab on before the engine and tranny?

Re: Jake of All Trades 1964 BBW LWB.
only if i was tight on space and only had the ability to put it back on right now. I would leave em apart til i knew for sure i didnt need to get back the top of the frame its more fun to mate em without needing to take it apart for some crazy brake line of something.

Re: Jake of All Trades 1964 BBW LWB.
I am still working on my first build of one of these, and if I had it all to do over again, I would prep the frame 100% before putting any body parts back on.
That means brake-fuel lines, and all the suspension mods or restorations I was going to do. If I had the equipment and space to do it. The garage I am in up here is too low to raise the cab, and my driveway is dirt 4 months out of the year, mud for 2, and a sheet of ice the other 6 (so working outside is not an option for me in this regard). Then I would 100% my cab for rust repair, and other things (especially anything going up under the dash) that it would be nice and handy if I am able to manipulate its attitude, like rolling it onto its back and working under the dash as opposed to rolling onto MY back to do so.... Then it would be a 99% wiring job before any fenders, or the bed went on. Sorry if this reply was a bit over the top for what you asked for, but my lessons learned were not necessarily painful, but some were down right needlessly uncomfortable. ![]() Hope this helps you. ![]()

I just wanted to get working on installing parts back in the cab and did not want to make it to heavy, like the gas tank, peddles, wiring, and whatnots |

Re: Jake of All Trades 1964 BBW LWB.
So time to catch up a bit I have not done a ton over the winter. Between not having heat in the garage and remodeling my kitchen and building a home theater. I have also found a new better paying job with benefits too.
So here is some of whT I have got done ![]() PB compressor/tank mounts ![]() Right before it got warm, I get heat in the garage. ![]() I love powdercoating. ![]() Made this so I can run air tools, and or fill up in a emergency at a gas station. |
