Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"

Martin, the cab looks fantastic, looks like they did a great job, having it blasted will save you weeks of work.

Love the picture of it mounted on the frame Good result

Looking good Martin, I only wish I had gone that route with mine, would have saved a lot of time spent wire wheeling and sanding the underside of the cab.

Thanks Rian it's funny looking at that picture you'd never guess how bad the truck was . I think I only have the tailgate , grill , and chassis left . The rest has either been upgraded or replaced .

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"

Well with the change in my personal life causing less truck time . This weekend I managed to get some truck time , due to the new lady in my life going away on a girly weekend .
Friday morning I got an email fron Ron at STS imports to say my panels had arrived . So I started work an hour earlier so I could finish earlier . So as soon as I got home I headed over to Essex to collect my Bedsides .

Bedsides loaded into the car

On returning home I unloaded them into the carport ready to unpack them once Kevon arrived

So Saturday morning my friend Kevon , that used to work with me in the body shop , came over to my place . The main reason was to help me repair the damage in my cab roof .

The before picture of the roof

Kevon's spot welding slide hammer

This tool makes work on a panel that is double skinned so much easier

After pulling out the dents and also using it to shrink the panel , Kevon put in the first spread of body filler the roof

Q

Then it was a question of blocking it down reload it with filler and repeat the process

All blocked ready for primer on Sunday

Once the roof was repaired I got Kevon to help me lift out the bodysides from the boxes

It's great to think these panels have traveled all the way from Tennessee via Miami , then into a container onto a ship and there isn't even a ripple in them so it's a big thanks to DeWayne at Nsane HotRodz parts and Ron at STS for the bedsides and Kevon for his help on the roof

Tomorrow I will get the roof into primer

Looking good Martin. I've used one of those spot welders before they're a great bit of kit. The bed sides look good too, they will save you a load of time and really push the build forward. Seems like everybody's making progress except me

And possibly me......

I think Martin did much better than me at following the advice below.

I still find it hard to do so.

Hopefully sooner than later I can get back to focusing on the truck build.

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"

Nice score on the bed sides, I'm curious about how well they fit. The fenders and core support and grill surround that I got needed a lot of tweaking to work out but maybe the beds are better made.
Doing a great job Martin and we're glad your life has taken a positive turn.
Stay after it bro… work is good for us.

Thanks Ian yes they are a great tool I think the bedsides will save me loads of time especially as I also have new front fenders as well .

You'll be back on your truck just like me , once you have sorted your home life out . I had to take a break as you know , but once things are sorted you will be back on track

I will let you know how they fit but they do seem as heavy as the originals . Paul NevEno has already fitted his Clem so give him a shout . As for my personal life it has definitely taken a turn for the positive thanks Clem

Re: Martin's mi-STRESS, 1965 Long Fleetside C10 "Rebuild in ENGLAND"

Well today Rian popped over as I was going to prep and prime my roof . So first I flatted the etch primer put on by the blasters with 180 then 240 grit paper . The next thing was to mast up the roof . But first I back masked the raised edge as to get a heavier mix of primer on the repaired section . Then I moved the paper and shot a thinner coat over the rest of the roof .

So that's this weekend over , and I am happy to say the damaged roof is done so next job is to weld up the holes in the floor then shoot some colour on the inside . I can finally say it's going back together . Thanks to Rian for taking the photos

you're another one showing us that you don't need a fancy shop all decked out in order to build what you want. Just a desire and some ingenuity go a long way. really enjoying following your build

Looking really nice! Those new bedsides are very very nice! Did you throw away the old ones yet Martin? Looking for a small repair section at the back, was going to use filler, but metal is better!

Keep up the good work, you may still get it on the road by the ne of summer!
