Post Sticky Rear Drum Brakes

This makes Two trucks in a row that I have had trouble with the drivers side rear brake dragging. Any one else??? Any suggestions would be Great!!! Thanks Sams 68

could be build-up of gunk in your wheel cylinder preventing the cup/plunger from returning after you apply the brakes. Could also be weak brake shoe return springs...

I'd replace the wheel cylinder and put in a new brake spring kit... might as well do both sides so they're both fresh, can't hurt...

could also be improperly adjusted e-brake cable as well....

My '69 definetly wears the driver side more than the other side and I used to have problems with it locking up after a nice ride. I have replaced parking brake cables, even replace the driver side twice. I put in new springs twice. I too am at a loss as to what's causing this. Last year I had to swap my brake shoes side to side to get some decent mileage out of them.

I used to have a '69 4X4 Blazer that did the same thing.

If you raise the tire off the ground, the brakes feel free. ????????????????????

check the little 'star' adjustment wheel,
if the teeth are worn, it will over adjust
make the lines wear. the thing is at the
bottom between the shoes.

I think if the teeth on the star adjuster were worn that would cause the shoes to back off. I would say that eather they are over adjusted or you have groves in the backing plate where the shoes ride
