motors out

Well, I broke down and finally took the motor out the blaze today. It didn't run too bad just a couple of annoyances. It had a wisp of smoke out of the drivers side exhaust, and slight ticking on the pass. side. So I figured I might as well do it right and yank it out. The guy I'm bringing it to is well known for excellent work and reasonably priced too. He is going to completely go through the heads(new valves, seats, guides, ect.), clean and tank it, bore and hone, balance and assemble. He uses only top of the line parts too. I told him I wanted between 9-9.5 comp. He said when he was done it should have between 325 and 350 horsies and would cost around 1300 bucks. It will take 3-4 weeks to get it back. In the meantime I'm going to try to get some detailing done. Anyways, I included some pics. Not vey exciting, but I know we all like pics.

later, Kage

Re: motors out

May as well, fix all the rust, repaint, freshen the interior and install a new suspension while your waiting...

Seems to be the way sometimes.
Keep it simple, do it one step at a time and keep drving it.

Sounds like it's going to be a nice running motor.
