I have a '68 chevy stepside. I want to drop it some and need new springs badly. Bad thing is, i have the old DRUM brakes on right now. I dont have the cash to dish out to get a "disc brake conversion" kit (with drop spindles) to help lower my front end.

Would it be wise to go ahead and do a 3"/5" drop just using springs to drop the front that much? and then later going with the brake conversion kit and new front springs(that will be much later ofcourse).

In the long run you are going to save money by doing it once. Put it on the backburner til you can afford it. If you just gotta have some springs, I am sure you can find a member that would hook you up with some stockers for next to nothing.
