Re: So, what did everyone get done this Labor day weekend?

I got my '71 GMC street legal - working lights, plates, etc. I put my first 15 miles on the new GM crate 5.7L and TCI TH350 I'm extremely pleased with it - still needs a little tuning but it was ear to ear grin driving for the first time!

Re: So, what did everyone get done this Labor day weekend?

I replaced all of my valve springs Saturday and got it all buttoned together Sunday. However, I noticed that I only had SIX valve stem seals LEFT!!!!!!!!! My "ex" machinist in under rated my springs and I had been binding them. Which, broke NINE inner springs thus taking out my seals. It's a wonder more of my plugs weren't fowled . Needless to say with the right new springs and valve stem seals it runs much much better.

I'll take a picture of what this mess looked like tonight when I get home.
I wouldn't take a lawn mower to this machine shop. Ugh.......
