1973 Grill Color???

I'm restoring a grill from a 73' I'm going to repaint it but I'm not sure what color to use. Its a painted plactic grill with no fake chrome. I looks like Argent????? Anyone know what the color is called?
Also where can I get the Chevy bowtie emblem Sticker that goes in the center of the grill, LMC and Chevy Duty does not have them?

Thanks

Im not sure what the exact color is called. But the Emblems your most likely going to have to find in a junkyard, thats where I found the ones I have.

Grande - I'm fairly certain the color is "Argent Silver". Also, I was looking for the sticker several months ago, and seemed like everyone that responded said that it was bolted from the back and not a sticker. MINE IS A STICKER!!

I found some old crash sheets and believe I have ID'd the GM part number for the sticker and even a couple likely places that may stock them. But, that info is at work. I let you know tomorrow.

Patience, grasshopper!!

Yes, it is a sticker. Everthing that I have came across is for 77-80 grills. I cant even find a repo 73 grill. I could just use my 77 grill but I like the look of the 73 grill. I found the ppg paint code for gm ARGENT grill but any info you have on the sticker would be great!!!

Re: 1973 Grill Color???

Try a junkyard for the grille emblem. I know the OE "emblem" on the factory grille was tin, believe it or not. Removing it kinda wrinkled mine in a couple spots, we replaced it with (get this) cut-up pocket folder in blue.

This was all moot after about 9 months when I found the shweet new factory chrome grille....

Its gonna be tough to 1. find the original sticker / tin emblem and 2. to recover it from the grille without damaging it.

Good luck!

There is no repro 73-74 grilles. The latch for them are different than the 75-80's, so if you don't have the 73-74 latch, you won't be able to open the hood properly. The color as stated is Argent Silver and Eastwood is you best bet on getting it. It is the same color the Rally wheels are painted.

Re: 1973 Grill Color???

The 73-74 emblems were "foil" stickers as noted on the majority of trucks. I haven't found a reproduction of them yet.

Re: 1973 Grill Color???

Anything can work for the emblem. I made one out of a vinyl pocket folder. We also considered plaque plating (that shiney blue or red stuff) but that runs a bit more expensive.
