Leaf rear, seems easy enough but the front looks like a lot of work. Okay, so I get the new springs (good place to get them from?) and then take the top control arm off? Any tips/suggestions? Thanks.

Well my plan is to get new rims, I have 17's now, I'm thinking 16 or even 15's and a bit smaller tire, after that I will decide how low to go. I don't want a "Slammed" truck just a little lower than stock.

I had eight lug 17" on my 90 burb Mickey thompson Classic 2's. 17X9 there are even some 8- lug 20's around. we used the on a SEMA suburban I did Enkei's 20X9 nice 5-spokes.

Why would you back down from 17's if you already have them?

I recently lowered my truck (72 half ton stepside) 2.5 in the front and 4 in the rear. sits nice and pretty now. I got my stuff from Classic Engineering, and If I remember right, they have a 3/4 ton lowering kit. You might give them a call and get a magazine, or ask someone on the board if they know for sure.

Early Classic Enterprises

For the front you'll need drop spindles + new springs depending on the drop you want. Brakes may be an issue, but the front-end components can be re-used if they're in good shape and you had disk brakes to begin with.

Don't know about leaf rear suspension, though. You may have to worry about shock relocation.

I have a '71 3/4 ton that I lowered about 5 years ago. I have the re-located ball joint on the lower control arms plus 2 inch lower springs. In the rear I have 4+ lower springs. I had to use a bolt in C notch to keep from hitting the 1" bump stops. I am running 275 50 R16 BFG's all the way around and it doesn't rub anywhere. I use this truck to push race cars and is set up for cornering and I like the fact I have heavy duty suspension parts that won't fail. If you have a coil rear there is another source for parts, Winston Cup. I have used parts, axle pads, panhard bar and have a Ford9in from Yates racing waiting to go in.

PS I like to tell people "Anyone can do a half ton"

Man, am I glad to see someone else is doing thee same thing that I am doing. I would like a 2.5"/ 4"drop. Would you suggest a lowered spring in the front and a combo of spring and block in the back?

I would like to see photos of 3/4 tons dropped with stock rims. Does anyone have some?
