Blazer or Cheyenne Super SWB Stepside? Pics.

Hello All, I am thinking about selling either the 1972 Cheyenne Super SWB Stepside or the 1972 K5 Blazer. Both of these are in original factory condition, the truck has one re-paint and the blazer is completely original. Which one would be a better long term investment if I ever do a frame off restoration? Both have A/C and very little rust. I like them both, but if I want to get something else (GTO, OLDS, Camaro, etc...) I need to sell one due to space, etc... Which one would you keep? Its almost like choosing between two beautiful women Decisions...Decisions UGH! Opinions welcomed, thanks.

Sell me the blazer and I will give you visitation rights!!! In all seriousness, I would keep the blazer. A good solid blazer is getting harder to find.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

I'd personaly have to go with the pickup. It seems that investment wise that people are paying more for C10s than K5s. Now if it was a 2wd blazer I would probably say to keep the Blazer. The pickup is a more desirable color and is also a Cheyenne. I guess you could always flip a coin!

I'd have to the keep the Blazer. If that was a short fleet Cheyenne, then I'd say keep the truck. Point is, you gotta do what you gotta do!

Re: Blazer or Cheyenne Super SWB Stepside? Pics.

cheyenne super stepsides are very uncommon and blazers in that condition are few and far between so in my opinion it would be a toss up. i say keep both of them and forget buying a car--or-- build another garage to stick a car in.

Well you mentioned you have kids! It is a no brainer, keep the blazer o you can have family outings in it. The truck is also very nice but limited when it comes to the family.

Re: Blazer or Cheyenne Super SWB Stepside? Pics.

the trouble with the step side... you'll get a LOT of ppl saying it's fake, that they didn't make stepside cheyennes, and that your SPID is a fake. Plus, the fact of the matter is, for MOST ppl, the step side is les desirable.
I would SPECULATE that the k/5 is worth more.

Re: Blazer or Cheyenne Super SWB Stepside? Pics.

Well, I have been around the muscle car scene long enough now to know that "THEY ARE ONLY ORIGINAL ONCE." With that said, you asked what one would be wiser to do a complete frame off restoration. Well you just narrowed it down with that sentence. It would be a shame to see you do a complete frame off on a blazer like that. I would sell it to JoesJunk before doing a full off restoration of a All Original blazer like that. Factory paint, some guys would give their right nut for a find like that. I say it's your choice, but I would hate to see a all original time capsule like that be tore down and repainted, when your truck has already been repainted once. Easy choice for me though. As far as prices go, I have started to see a real rise in the prices of the blazer's lately, compared to the trucks, the trucks seem to flucuate. I would say by a cheap lil car, and drive it into the ground. Once again, hell of a find on the blazer. Best wishes. Trevor

Thanks again guys, I actually live on 3.5 acres. I have a 4 car garage with 4 vehicles. I don't like to leave cars outside. I am actually considering building another 2 car garage, but I'm not Jay Leno Longhorn Man, your right some people don't believe the SPID, but it is real.

Re: Blazer or Cheyenne Super SWB Stepside? Pics.

Scew the non-believers.Don`t live by someone who obviously doesn`t know what they`re talking about.I`ve had arguements about RS Z/28s and other Camaro variations, too. There`s facts and there`s notions.
You have a tough decision because both are very nice and have their individual pluses. When my kids were young I sold a sweet shortbed to buy a Blazer for the back seat.Although Fleetsides may be more popular,a Cheyenne Super Stepside is way rarer. It should bring bigger money (than a like Fleetside),just only to a educated buyer. The Fleetside thing is a trend thing and mostly for the car-converts.I true truck guy can appreciate the Stepside. As time goes by they`ll become the more desireable as a vintage item,as in,they don`t make them anymore and it`s the original pickup.Kinda like what a regular cab will be someday. They are transforming from what they once were.

Thanks again everyone, esp. 71blk and special-K as my parents always told me... "just sleep on it" This will take several nights to sleep on it. I may just have to keep both and wait on that muscle car. I LIKE them both and will sure regret selling any of them.

Wow -- i hesitate to even comment on this one.

Thats like asking if you'd rather have clean air? or clean water

Keep the '04 Ford or the Tahoe outside and park your AMX, or GTX or GTO or whatever, in its place - problem solved - I have an '06 Ford and an '07 Yukon and neither one will ever reach the icon status either of your trucks is at --- their just trucks and Ford and Chevy/GMC saturate the market with them now. You just have to wax them 3 times a year instead of 2 - big deal

(of course thats assuming the late models are not already outside)

Your classics will thank you for giving them the extra breathing room until you can build a dedicated 60' x 40' somewhere on your acreage
