you'll have to describe it better, there's eleventy billion black and silver pieces under the dash
Is this on the back of the ignition switch? Did you unplug it and inspect it? |

It sounds like your neutral switch. Mine did the same thing, burned up and smoked a lot in my cab. Scared the heck outta me.
The switch sits on top of your steering column.
