I was wanting to smooth the cowl, fix the rust and weld up the vent holes inside of the cab.
Has anyone done this? Are there any reasons why I shouldnt do it?

If you have factory A/C, the passenger side vent is for recirculating air, and you need that one

I was planning on running an aftermarket AC system in it.

Depending on which unit you get some still require outside air or at lest it is desirable.
I've seen a few trucks with the panel filled but they were primarily show only trucks and didn't see a lot of if any real street use.

Ive thought about it myself...prolly gonna make covers to go over the holes out of leather..like to see pics if you do it

the tighter you make the cab the greater chance of the windows blowing out in hot weather or the cab being vaccume sealed in cold weather

Looking for a reason to "not" want vents(short for ventilation).

Close it up if you want, use door vents (like the later model GM trucks) for control of air pressure in the cab. If you need some fresh air in there during your A/C ops, then make a smaller tubed vent connection, but the big dust holes can be closed.

Check my build thread for a pic of my shaved cowl in primer.
I shaved the center of the dash, but kept the stock vent holes to the left and right. I plan to go with a dual billet center vent.

I have Vintage Air, smooth cowl, blocked vent holes, well insulated etc... The only issue I have is that in the winter I have to run the heat with the A/C on to dehumidify or the truck steams up. The air gets warm but not hot (the A/C works awesome in the summertime).

No tint and there's not many places hotter than Bakersfield.. haven't had an air pressure problem. These trucks just ain't that tight.

i got my vents welded shut, and a smooth cowl...but i aint driving mine yet, check sig for pics, if there aint none i'll get some up asaic

My cowl is fiberglass and I got it from Tony Gonzalez ( mgtp001@gmail.com )

Great fit and a lot less hassle... throw some paint on it and bolt it down
