Is there a difference between 6 cylinder and v8 z bar? How bout clutch rod coming out of firewall? Moving my sbc from rear position to front and think i need to change clutch linkage. Anyone know where i can get the piece of bent flat bar with two holes and pivot that attaches to block? Thanks. This is only my second post i think so pardon the to the point verbage. not much of a writer.

as far as i know there is a difference in the 6 and 8 cylinder z-bar, or bell-crank as some refer to it. and im not sure on this but i thought the front position was for BB applications, i could be wrong , someone will chime in with the answer.

Yes the z bars are different. You should be able to get all the proper pieces you need off the parts board. When I need something like that I usually send teeitup a message. He has everything.

Is the bar that mounts to the block the same bolt pattern for SBC and BBC?

nope the bb and the small block pieces are different. I just sold the one for the sbc with the ball on it. as for the z bar, like tx says, they are indeed different. I bought a truck where they cut off the arm and bent and relocated it by welding, looked like crap but I guess it worked until they fried the clutch!! :0

BTW, Grumpys is out of stock on the z bar though it is still listed on site.

Anyone think of any reason as to why you wouldn't make your own frame and engine mount and put the Z bar where ever you want? You can adjust the rod to fine tune your throw correct?

I've made several clutch linkages out of steel rod and aircraft heims ends. Just thread the ends of the rod and screw the ends onto it. Then you can adjust the length as appropriate.

I never took any pictures of them but the rod I get at my steel supplier. It's like 15 dollars for a 20 foot stick of 3/8 cold rolled rod. The heims I get from Summit or Speedway. Cut to length, run a die on each end for threads and assemble. Don't forget jam nuts.
