Re: 8 lug wheels - what's on YOUR truck?

I saw that "Wheel Vintiques" makes 16" from 6 to 10 inches in width and different offsets. Looks like a brand new product for them. $90 each it looks like. They make them for Fords and Chevys and as I recall, they were originally different so not sure if the have two versions.

Re: 8 lug wheels - what's on YOUR truck?

I really like the steel 8 lugs from wheel vintiques...

I would like to replace the ones on the truck currently...

Someone on this board said that the current wheels I have are rare. What are they called and can I make a buck selling them?

I have a set of white spoke wheels that are 8 bolt but are 15" x 8". I don't think they are that rare.

Are there offset issues using the newer style wheels?

Had to get some special thin lug nuts and a special socket for removal but hey I figure it'd deter more thieves!

Re: 8 lug wheels - what's on YOUR truck?

NorthernGMC,
I haven't noticed any offset issues with the newer style aluminum wheels found on the 2500/3500HD GM trucks. The only thing that may not be desirable is that they are only 6.5" wide, which limits the width of tire you can run. I just happened to get a steal of a deal on the take off's I'm running from C/L.

Thanks I understand that you can't take a set of 6 lug wheels off of a newer 1/2 ton and stick them on a 67-70 6 lug as there are problems with offset and the centre opening is smaller on the new OEM wheels.

Re: 8 lug wheels - what's on YOUR truck?

Just got these yesterday and have the lug nuts on order so I can use the center caps. Anyone know if the caps are going to fit over the bub on the dana 60 rear end.

Re: 8 lug wheels - what's on YOUR truck?

I love to rims I have been trying to find a set for my 68 chevy since i saw then on yours
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I put a set of these on my 70 GMC. Had to put a 1 1/4" spacer on the rear so the centers would fit my Dana 60 hubs. Makes the rear wheels as far apart as the front wheels now. Looks good.

Didn't know about the dually center caps. Might have to check into that.[/QUOTE]

Not without using a spacer to bring out the wheel a litle bit.

Re: 8 lug wheels - what's on YOUR truck?

Anyone have these Dodge rims on their truck? I think they would look sweet on a 67-72. Thoughts? they are 17x8's and you can get em in satin, polished and chrome...

Re: 8 lug wheels - what's on YOUR truck?

Bubz,

Thanks. Both front and back are 16". The front are 8" wide, the rear are 10". Front tires are 245/75R16 and rears are 285/75R16. The rears have a perfect offset for the truck, the tires sit perfectly at the side of the bed. The fronts are still a little too inside, but I will upgrade to disks soon, so that should help a bit.

I didn't think they were expensive. Only paid $250.00 for everything to bolt them onto my truck, brand new. They were takeoffs for a custom van/truck from Truck and RV Supply. Had to get new/different lug nuts, as the ones that came with them wouldn't work. I have a Dana 60 rearend, so I got some 1 1/4" spacers for the rears so the centers would work. Didn't know about duallie centers that are supposed to be deeper?
