anyone tow with suburban

I have a 1991 350 auto suburban 1500 that I use to tow my wife's 2 horse trailer. Anyone else on this forum tow? if so, any common problems that occur, or are there proven upgrades that help durability, etc.

Rear Air bags?
Rear sway bar?
What type of brake controller do you have?
What is the total weight of the loaded trailer?
Total tongue weight?
Do you use a W/D set up?

Suburbans in general are a pretty good towing set up.

If it were me I would invest in a rear air bag system. The small helper bags with a schrader fill valve is good. Adding a compressor with air gauge and controller is better. It's really nice to be able to level your ride based on the load you have.

The truck is stock. Receiver hitch. The trailer is a basic 2 horse, no tack room, about 3000 lbs. Each horse is about 1200 lbs.

Re: anyone tow with suburban

Add an external transmission cooler, and if its a 700r4 then don't tow in D - only 3,2,1.

Best buy would be rear helper bags - helps in braking, cornering, stability.

Next I would get a trailer brake controller if the trailer is so equipped.
