Two tone "factory parts" interiors...

Currently, my interior is all blue (picture below), and I have been thinking about going with a two tone to break it up a little bit. I am thinking about going with black carpet and either painting my original door panels or just using new black ones, but leaving the metal part of the door blue. I have a van column with the stock black wheel, so I think that would match nicely as well. Might go with a black headliner too. Does anyone have any pictures of fairly stock interiors in a two tone set up like what I am talking about? Trying to "see" it better in my mind...

Here's what I have now...just too much blue for me. Also, fwiw, I am going to do the outside in two tone blue and black as well, replacing the wide center white stripe with black and painting the upper part of the cab blue, doing away with the color split on the upper half.

My first car was a '54 Ford 2-dr sedan. While it was originally a medium blue that was not remarkable, the guy who did the mild custom job on it had it painted '56 Dodge Royal Metallic Blue.....the very same color that Norm Grabowski had used on his T-bucket when he re-did it as it appeared on '77 Sunset Strip. It was known as "Kookies Kar". The interior of my car had all of the metal painted white. Nice contrast.

Now, for your truck. You say "too much blue", yet you mention using two different shades of blue on the exterior, plus some black. My thinking is that the blue needs a contrasting color. A darker color on the top and above the upper side moulding will lower the truck, visually. If the truck has two colors on the exterior, instead of three different colors, it will be more appealing (my opinion). When I think of three-tone exteriors, my mind goes back to the mid-Fifties when Chrysler and American Motors were using three colors....like yellow, white and charcoal grey or pink, white and charcoal grey. The grey was on the lower part of the body, the white in the middle and the bright color was on the upper part.

But, it's your truck, and it's your decision.

Sorry about the confusion, I didn't write that very clearly. The exterior will be in two tone, blue and black. Not two blues and a black, sorry about that. Basically, what is blue will remain blue. The wide center white will be black, but instead of also doing the top of the cab in black, it will get the same blue as the rest of the truck. I played around in photoshop and doing the top of the cab in black just doesn't work. Sorry about the confusion there, my original wording was just funky.

And also for the sake of conversation, there will be no woodgrain after the paintjob. It's a Cheyenne Super, so the factory molding has (had, it's mostly faded) wood, but when it's all redone, what was once wood will be done in black.

My 70 has the factory light green on the metal parts and everything else is black. Ill post some pics when I get home. Personaly I dont like it. Eventualy I would like to die everything the same as the body color. I had a 72 that was much like yours. Everything was blue and i liked that.

When I got my '69, it was in primer....over the white paint job that had been done sometime in the Eighties. Originally, it was black. I toyed with doing a silver paintjob, as well as orange, yellow and red. The silver? Wouldn't see like I had changed the color, so back to black is the plan.

We all would like to do a paint job that looks like we changed colors, so I understand your black and blue (there's a theme) combo.

I don't know if this will help you or not, I want the stock appearance as well (I am struggling with the what to do's with the wood grain) but mine may be of some assistance.

Also, this truck I saw a couple of weeks ago and I thought the interior was sharp. Probably a member here, anyway, I like it.

Mine is burgandy and black with white as the primary color,

I just got my new blue dash pad in the mail the other day, but might have to swap that for a black one...that looks good!
