tach question
im a new guy here and a new guy to my 81 c10 long bed and i have a question i bought a tach and which wire on the dist. do i clip my green tach wire to? theres three ive got everything else hooked up besides that lol i need to get some pics up later it other than standard rust its in good shape and its looked a ton better since i bought it ha ha

Your tach should have 3 wires... 12v, ground, and signal...
I assume the signal wire is the one you are asking about... it should go to the TACH terminal on your distributor if you have an HEI...

just put one in myself two days ago.
green when to distributor. black is ground. red i put into fuse panel and the white.... well i put it into a 5 amp instrument light part of fuse panel. and then fuse blew...so i ended up with no lights on the inside of truck. i replaced the fuse. but not connected the white anywhere yet. not sure if i can put a bigger fuse instead of the 5 amp. and be ok. hope that helps. |

this.. the coil is now your tach hook up on your hei. everything else is the same

on the top of distributor cap.
on mine. there was the power<<<<think its power going in on top of cap. and next to it there is...marked tach. thats where the green will go. |

The terminal is with all the others on the underside of the tach - just go up from underneath and you will find it. Its location is printed on the coil cover.
