bed liner for frames

I was just wondering why I have not heard of people using the rhino or equivalant bed liner coating on frames. It seems that it would be a perfect coating as it would prevent rust, its durable, would provide more sound insulation from reaching the cab, comes in many colors and it has a life time warranty. I know they spray it under cabs for sound insulation and rust prevention. What do you guys think? anyone out there used it on their frames?

I have thought about it for under the floor, but I think I would rather have POR15 on my frame.

I would think that lining cab,bed,frame and what ever else you would want lined would cost some serious$$$$$

I don't think using the liner coating on the frame would be anymore then powercoating. Power coating does not have a lifetime warranty whereas the liner coating does, plus if it is durable inside a bed it should work very well on a frame. Anymore opinions?

I can't see any reason it wouldn't work as long as the trough holes needed are taped off. A buddy of mine had Rhino liner put on the entire underside of a Cobra kit car he built.

i have also thought of that a lot. wouldnt it be cool to rhino line the back side of body pannels. anyplace you could shoot the stuff. would make everything quiet as hell.

I am using it on the interior of my blazer. The guy at the Rhinoliner place that sprays the stuff showed me his car, and he had taken the entire interior out and Rhino lined just about the whole car. He did inside the doors, dash, floors, frame, the door arm rest area and all!!! He said it was the most durable stuff and makes his stereo system sound like a million bucks!!! I think it would be a better product than powdercoating because it doesn't chip like powdercoating can if road rocks and stuff hit it! And it is available in different colors and the guy said it is paintable too!! Post pics if you end up doing your frame this way!

The more I think of it the more I think I will do. Like you said it is more durable then power coating and probably a little cheaper. Thanks for the input.

I was thinking about the frame thing with the Line-x. But being that the guy that dose the line-x here is my friend, yes it would have been cheaper for me to go that way. I had my frame powdered, but it is going to be my show truck. I know that the cost of the line-x is rather high, I would have payed like the same amount for the powder as the line-x. But I am having the cab sprayed in side and out with line-x, to save the cab from rust.

I am not sure how much weight it adds, but it is about a 1/8" to 1/4" thick and probably will add some- I bet Rhinoliner could tell ya.
DanoDMano- POR15 is a rust bonding "paint" that you paint on with a paintbrush. It chemically bonds with your rust, in fact it LOVES rust. So if you "painted" your floorboards with it, it would stop any rust from progressing from that point on. Heres a pic. I used it in my blazer floor when the floorboards were off.

I used bed liner on my swb frame and it cost me a little over $500. I took it in there on a trailer and they coated it for me. I did not have the rear axle or spindles on or anything. Got it done in gun metal gray. As soon as I get the rest of the parts back on I will post some pics.

i think that when (if) i ever get around to fixin up my truck, i am gonna line the inside of the cab, up until the bump under the window, and up the firewall, and then on the bottom too. then I can hose the cab out!

yeah, we rhino-lined our rusty old boat trailer for our 8000 pound 25 foot bayliner. i tell people if the trailer rusts completely away the rhino lining will still hold it together. it is real thick, and so far so good.

You can Rhino-line just about anything. We Rhino-lined some framework for a couple of MCP's (modular command post) for the Marines and Airforce. You could throw the parts across the tarmac and it would even scratch them!

There's a guy where I work that must have stock in Rhino liner or something. He has an entire Jeep thats Rhino Coated; under carrage and body inside and out. I think the seats, steering wheel and dash are about the only items not coated. He uses it for a lot of offroading and after about 3 years it still looks to be holding up well.....Stroker

I went to get my blazer interior Rhinolined, and the guy told me that it would need to be sandblasted to get all the rust out before they would recommend Rhinolining it!?? I was mad as heck! I went into this place when I started restoring this blazer and the guy tells me "Go ahead and paint it and bring it in for Rhinolining after that" So I do all the bodywork and get it painted and now this!!! I only have a tiny bit of surface rust if that! What a joke! Now I am not sure what to do! Sorry for all the rambling, I am just mad!

when line-x did mine it was only sanded downa little to roughup the surface, clean up the spots with the rust and sand the rest. I think that the Rhino, and the line-x are basiclly the same?
