Since I've got my truck mostly sorted out and also because my daily driver has been in the shop for the past week, I've been driving the C/10 pretty much daily for the past 2 weeks.

I'm finding after 3-4 hours on the bench seat, my butt starts to get sore. Admittedly, I'm larger than average, 6'0" 300lbs... hey I come by my Da Big Kahuna nickname honestly!

I'm wondering if it's because I'm on a 40 year old seat and new foam and seat cover would fix it up or if I should be looking at other seats. I think my seat has been recovered. It's got some tweedy looking cloth on it. I don't think it's original.

Bad foam will cause the seat to be uncomfortable over time. If you know an upholstery shop, have them check out your seat so they can give you an opinion on the foam's condition.

Since we're the same size.I'll tell you that the factory seat(utility bucket) in mine was very uncomfortable after a couple hours.I took it out to find that the springs were broken and the PO had put a piece of plywood under it to supposrt.Then he built the underneath up with blocks between the frrame of the seat and the plywiood.The foam and cover were original and in decent shape but the cushioning from the springs was GONE!!!.Check out what you got before you decide to just throw new foam and covers on it.

I have the comfort bench in mine and I think it is pretty nice. I think these have thicker foam from the factory. (option z62)

Mine is all stock and after an hour and a half I'm ready to get out and stretch. I think they just weren't that attuned to "creature comforts" back then and it's just state-of-the-art for that time period. I did put a tilt column in mine which seems to help my arms and shoulders, but as you said, I still get butt-sprung much sooner then in my late model.

To me, the 88-98 truck seats are alot more comfortable. They almost bolt right in, and the low back seats look like they belong there. The backs are also a little thinner so you will probably gain a little leg room. You can probably get a nice one for half the price it would take to rebuild yours. Just my opinion.

My truck came with an aftermarket bench. Not sure the brand. Pretty comfortable. Then again there is about a third less of me than you guys. I much prefer the bench over buckets. Comes in handy when you and your lady want to go park in a field. If ya get my drift.

I have spent alot of money on my project and had to make alot of decisions on what to spend money on. Let me tell you, a good seat makes or breaks the entire vehicle. I have no intentions of "poor boying it" on the seat and I've tried several. At a goodguys show I was able to sit it a Teas Design seat. It was better than sitting on my sofa and that's what I'm going with.

For you at 6' 300 lbs I highly recommend it.

88 bench in mine......feels good...... but a re-foaming may make you want to drive further!

I bounce all over my nicely recoverd factory bench. i almost need shocks for it!! the next time i redo a seat i will put supports in the seat springs somehow

I looked at the Teas Design but they look a little too modern for my taste. I'm sure they are way comfortable.

I'd like to see the 88-98 benches. if they look like they belong, it sounds like a good way to go. I would love to pick up a little leg room as well. I don't have the in cab tank so I can move back a little.

recommend the custom shop route - have them make a firm, with memory foam topper (newer upholstery shop trend) for use with your stock seat and covers. Best of both worlds.
