Clownpuncher's build thread
Well I thought I would give everyone here a little update on Jeff's (Hardwaa's) old truck. Jeff gave me a great platform to work with, but there is thing's i wanted to update and make it my own flavor.. Both Jeff and Nate Porter have been super cool with helping me along. Delmo and Dino are some pretty cool guys as well
Here is what I've been up to as money allows: Old wiring gone.. Scene better days..haha New wiring from American Autowire. 3rd time I've installed there kit's and it's better everytime Few more circuits Headlight relay kit Kick panel lighting Great idea was given to me on the door jam switch I was going to re-use the factory cluster but after evalutaing my options i went with some New Vinatge gauges The new panel i need to mount them in I found the color I wanted to paint the cluster panel but then decided to shoot the whole dash so it would match I had some left over 18g so I made ghetto little license lamp mount

Re: Phase II?
Jeff gave me a good little 350 to work with but I'm not a fan of SBC especially for what I do.. After putting an LS2 in this
a few years ago I knew I could never go back to a SBC. I got spoiled..haha So out with the old.. and the new... LS6 forged bottom end but mostly stock everything else. Some kid was building it for his Camaro but needed money so I bought the short block and have been trading alot of the go fast parts for reliable streetable parts that I can use. Head's were $300, Intake, fuel rail, injector's, throttle body, valve cover's valley pan $400.00 I traded the cam straight up for a smaller one, sold the #50 lb injector's and still money ahead. Man I love LS1tech.com..ha And as of tonight Nate sent me some new mounts to try with this motor So maybe tomorrow I will see if this thing fit's. I have a game plan with the drive accessories but we will see if I can make it work That's all for now..

I wanted to keep the patina but man it was hard to clean up just the gauge cluster.. Well stabbed the motor in. Motor sit's nice and tight. Looks like I need to order some special valve cover's from Katech so I can move my coils up some. Other then that she's in like a glove. I'm trying to use all F-body accessories, just for the simple fact that it's cheaper to find and looks much cleaner then the truck accessories. It's going to be super close but Im still trying it I ordered a power rack today, only to find out at 5 o'clock the manual rack I had uses a smaller u-joint..haha My luck. Oh and finally got my Ridetech air compressor today. Only a month later

Re: Phase II?
Jeff kindly took it bck off my hand's for a family cruiser he may one day build. It was perfect for me since it went back to the person that new everything about it... It was a wicked cool motor but I like making trips out of town and messing with tunes with a push of a button. spoiled I know

Re: Phase II?
Well gauges are done, waiting on turn signals lights but thats about it.
I shot the gauges panel black then scuffed it down. It's hard to see in the picture but there is still black swirl marks in there.. And I decided to git rid of the brown I just painted the dash in and shot it in black. Matches the gauges a little better

Re: Phase II?
Got my 4l65e in this past weekend. it was barely rubbing up against the floor pan so I did just a little bit of trimming and she was spot on. It actually was a rib that is on the top of the case that was making the contact.
Little cut of the low spot of the trans hump. Finished

Re: Phase II?
Had a friend make me some plates for my air bag switches. I decided to ditch the little gauge panel that Ridetech gives you in favor of something a little more suttle.
Shot it matte black Then scuffed it with a roloc disk and mounted it up. Side shot, really not that noticeable So far Im happy with the way the inside is turning out. I have not really needed to hack anything up. Which I'm really happy about

Re: Phase II?
I also added a new color to the intake and put an LS2 style fuel rail on it. Looks much better then the LS1 style plus I elimnated the stock regulator. I also took apart my throttle body and painted it a matte black, which should match most of the pulleys I'm getting
Building bars that come from the firewall down to the core support, Thanks Dino for the great idea

Re: Clownpunhcer's build thread
What are you using for a shifter? I am running the same trans and I am torn.

Re: Clownpunhcer's build thread
I really want to run an old style shifter, almost like an original manual trans shifter. I dont need anything real tall since the my seat has been lowered a few inches.
Thats what I'm leaning towards or maybe at the last minute just using the column shifter but taking a few inches off of it.
