1970 Chevy c10 327 First time

Ok first time posting, Start this out with what pickup i got; I have a 1970 Chevy C10 with a 327 small block. Its in excellent condition. Thought this would be a good place to ask questions and let you guys know what im doing to this pickup. The motor is getting rebuilt so ill have a fresh motor and the even better part is that i get it for free; by the way Im 15. One question i have is what kind of fuel mileage would i get with this combination, it a automatic. I have no clue on what it will get. My plan is lower it and put some nice rims under it and paint it the two tone style (Maroon and White or cream). Im on a tight budget but for now i will just paint it in the near future and put some rally wheels on it. Then when i get extra money lower it. Ill try to get a picture of the pickup on here soon.

Does your transmission have overdrive? Because that will make a difference In miles per gallon

Im not exactly sure its been awhile since ive looked. What would one with overdrive get and one with out.

Cool lookin first truck man! Your gas mileage should be between 10-20 mpg. OK really though it depends alot of the build of the motor, the transmission OD (overdrive) or not, rear end gear, overall tire diameter, weight of the vihicle, how many times you floor it per hour. and so on... first I would look at the pan on the transmission and figure out which trans you have, either TH350 TH400 or newer swapped 700R4 (OD). you can google chevy trans ID to compare the pan to identify yours. I think 16-18 is pretty common with an overdrive trans and 12-14 without overdrive. thats what i have had in my many chevy trucks anyway. cant wait to see more.

Ok thanks for the info better then thought i would get; This is a very odd pickup. It is a half ton body but has 3/4 ton running gear. The guy that had it before took alot of time to switch it over. My guess is that he wanted to pull a camper because it has three fuel tanks. So the very first thing im going to do, is to pull out the frame and running gear and put a half ton frame and running gear back under it.

Got the pickup back today from overhaul, carburetor needs little work but fresh new motor. Yes got some more pictures. Cleaned the cab out also and found a quarter from 1966. HAHA
Oh and somebody jack all my air conditioner hoses and air selector and defroster.

P.S. I have the coolest review mirror ever!!!! HAHA

Hey guys been a while got my extra pickup for the 1/2 ton running gear, Got some pictures; thought my was a little rough, Mine looks like show quality. Got my pickup back from overhaul and thought it was going to run but guess not. Have to replace lifters so thats what my dad and I are doing this weekend, get some pics of it when that happens.
