Re: project rebirth of ol number 16

been workin on the c10 for the last few weeks. unfortunatly its been raining almost everyday so i cant work on very often since i dont have a garage. since my last post, ive ordered and received every patch panel for the cab i should need. about 550 bucks worth. i even found a junkyard with all sorts of old 67-72 chevys, it was like heaven in there lots of parts i can get there. there was even a 69 gmc short wide 4x4 there that wasnt half bad. heres some pics of my truck since my last post

Re: project rebirth of ol number 16

is this not the cleanest sm465/rockwell 221 combo. has new gaskets, seals and bearings. all i need now is a coupler. anyone got a good used one because the price went up at drivetrain.com. from 170 to 275. not happy.

Re: project rebirth of ol number 16

Looking great! Nice work so far!!!

And if you get a chance see what they want for the 4x4 short wide....you might be able to make some decent money if it's got a good title....swb 4x4's go for good money since they are relatively rare...

Re: project rebirth of ol number 16

ya i know they are pretty rare if only seen like 1 for sale with a real ke149 vin. i guess they made 1500 short wide 4x4the same amount with the stepside. about 3000 total. theres anther short step 4x4 either a 69 or 70 down the road too looks sick. ill never mine it tho. im not much into selling things. runs in the family. that quad that the trailer is hooked to is an 86 and my dad is the original owner. lol

Re: project rebirth of ol number 16

i relized i never showed the motor im workin on puting into the truck. its a 5.7 i got out of a 1993 g30 that my neighbor was gonna scrap. it ran, and had 190k. really well taken care of all highway miles. the only reason he stopped using the van was cuz he flipped it one night on his way home and it was rusting away since i live in new england and we love salt. to get it out i cut the van grill and dash in half and pulled it out with the trans using forks on a tractor. i had pics but i cant find them. any who, i got the motor before i got the 69 and planned on just rebuilding it slowly since i never rebuilt or even took apart a car motor before and wanted the experience. as i took it apart i learned this block was mint. no scoring all the bearings were evenly worn, no spun bearings not a nick on it, until i droped a piston a snapped the skirt on it. figured that was ok since i want new pistons. now my plan with it since i dont need anything special is to get some new cheep standard bore pistons, new main and rod bearings, upgraded cam, new gaskets and call it a day. but since i am going in the direction of a mostly stock looking truck, i really didnt want the center bolt heads it came with. i came accross some nice recently rebuilt 350 heads. my freind game them to be for free, with those im just clean them up maybe even give them an amateur port and polish. anyways this is it let me know what u think.

Re: project rebirth of ol number 16
