Anyone familiar with these period correct Delco Pleasur-lift air shocks w POWER PAC compressor? Were these used in pickups? The "control panel" looks cool (borrowed board member pic).

Maybe the control could be used with air bags to monitor pressure?

Re: Anyone: Delco Pleasur-lift air shocks w POWER PAC compressor?

My brother had a 71 Cheyenne Super 10 lwb with this set up on it. Same controller. It all still worked but the air shocks were shot so he pulled them for some regular gas shocks thinking he'd fix it later but sold the truck before getting to it. Believe it is dealer installed. Btw, this truck also had factory cruise, tilt, tach, bb 400 and side tool box, copper and white. Bought it for $4k in Texas, did about $1k worth of work (front jumper, tires, shocks, seat cover), sold it for $14k in Virginia.

Cool Re: Anyone: Delco Pleasur-lift air shocks w POWER PAC compressor?

I ran that system when I first bought my truck. My dad had it and gave it to me. He used it on the caprice for pulling the camper. It works off the motor vacum and puts air into the shocks. Hit the little center button and it deflates them. I took mine out years ago for the same reason. I lowered the truck and had to change shocks and let a good friend have it for his merc low rider. He still has it in use today.
I would like to find one in good shape to have if anybody knows of one.

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Re: Anyone: Delco Pleasur-lift air shocks w POWER PAC compressor?

So I located a mostly complete NOS setup with a pair of shocks: the installation instructions and some fittings are missing. It's a long shot but can anyone help with pics of how the compressor installs under the hood? That gauge is cool!

Re: Anyone: Delco Pleasur-lift air shocks w POWER PAC compressor?

They should work ok. I have Monroe air shocks in the back of my 1978 c10. They work perfect for when I need to haul my dirtbikes around. I put in 80psi and I can haul 2 dirtbikes easy and still have a couple extra inches of lift.

The way I remember it is the vacum pump had a bracket you screwed to the fender like a cruise control.

Re: Anyone: Delco Pleasur-lift air shocks w POWER PAC compressor?

Andy, would you be interested in a JAC PAC 175 Delco air shock kit? This is the same thing as mention in thread. This is a complete N.O.S. kit. Has everything needed to install. Control unit is a different design, newer style. The one pictured in thread is the older style. I also have a used one of these too. Not perfect but still usable. Price is not cheap, these N.O.S. kits are very hard to find. I can post pics this weekend if interested. Mike.

Mike - I'd be interested in the used set particularly if it has the fittings/bracket I need to install the compressor please let me know. Pete

Cool Re: Anyone: Delco Pleasur-lift air shocks w POWER PAC compressor?

I have the helper air bags in the rear coils and have to use a manual compressor to fill them up. Would be nice to do it from the truck cab. PM sent.

Wink Re: Anyone: Delco Pleasur-lift air shocks w POWER PAC compressor?

DeadheadNM,
Thank you,thank you!

I took the Tahoe over to my buddies shop today and had them do the oil change. While I was there I got to talking to him about the gauge and vacum pump. He told me he had taken the setup off because he found some nice coil overs so it had been sitting in his parts room for a couple of years. He siad he kept forgetting to tell me. DeadheadNM It even has the bracket with it still!
It's missing the inlet filter and cover though. That shouldn't be hard to fix though with a spray can cap and some filter material.

I got home and cleaned it up a little. Now to find the 3/16" lines and fittings!

NO WAY!!! Lucky score!!!!!! Please post up pics once installed and thanks for the bracket photos. Man that's cool. I must be missing the inlet filter too 'cause all I have is what's pictured above.

Mike since Andy is all set I'd be interested in your setup.

Pete

Thumbs up Re: Anyone: Delco Pleasur-lift air shocks w POWER PAC compressor?

I'm going to set it up with the vacum/pump first. If that doesn't work I'm going to buy a new model level compressor and use it.

Too cool Andy. Keep me in mind if that OEM vac/pump doesn't cut it for you - I'll use the bracket. What a coincidence.

Re: Anyone: Delco Pleasur-lift air shocks w POWER PAC compressor?

To add something else to this topic-
Here is my 65 Caprice with the factory installed "LevelAir" system.
The vacuum powered compressor is mounted on the drivers inner fender, with rubber hoses going to hard lines run along the frame rails to the rear, where a valve is mounted on the rear control arm. When weight is added to the car,the valve sends air to the shocks, keeping the car at the same height. It's fully automatic-no controls.
It gets vacuum from the carb and clean air from the breather filter.

Point of interest. The "Level Air " system was also available on 70-72 Monte Carlos. There was also a very early system on 57 Caddys and 58 Impalas as well.

Spent most of the day in Hardware store, Lowes and the local Fastnel store. I got 2 3/16" tee's and coupling and hose ordered. This stuff was harder to find than I thought!

I've had good luck with small parts like that at a small, old school neighborhood hardware store.....keep us posted!

Cool Re: Anyone: Delco Pleasur-lift air shocks w POWER PAC compressor?

I went ahead and bought the compressor off E-bay for $58.00. Leveling Compressor, Various GM Cars, New, AC Delco Box.
I figure I'll use the dial part and hook a momentary switch to it. Mount the compressor under the truck in the rear and have only one line ran to the cab along with a momentary on/off switch. Put a relay in line to handle the load.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
