LS 6.0 480hp carb setup! Nice link!

So ive been investigating more on the LS carb swap vs. the EFI. The link i provided seems to be a great way to get major horsepower with not alot of money. Some of the prices seem high like the headers and hooker ls swap.I think it would be great without headers and the cam. Any opinions on this setup. I know fuel mpg wouldnt be as much as fuel injection( got an estimate?), but this would be a serious ride for the weekend warrior. Plus, it seems slightly dummy proof!

Re: LS 6.0 480hp carb setup! Nice link!

That is the link that got me started. Put carb on a lq4 with a cam. Great power and ran pretty good. Only got 7 mpg. That was ok tell i had to start driving it everyday. Then i had to tune the carb and i am not good at that. If you can tune a carb very well then that will help the mpg. But really to keep the efi is sometimes cheaper. If motor comes with efi then all you really need is fuel system and a tune. I have aftermarket fast ez-efi now and am building a 5.3 that will use factory efi and a turbo.

Re: LS 6.0 480hp carb setup! Nice link!

If this is as easy as the article says, I'm interested in it. I have been looking for a new engine setup for around this price range, with little luck narrowing things down due to the broad range of options available.

The swap is super easy if you go with a carb. It could be done in a day if you had all your stuff figured out like fuel lines and electrical connections figured out. Put my 5.3 in today by my self in under 2 hours. From open bay to ls motor in.

As soon as spring hits or it stops raining I already have my parts list made out. Getting a 6.0L and instead of the very mild hot cam mine will have .624 lift on a tight 109 LSA. Also instead of the single plane or standard dual plane I will be using Holley's dual carb mid-rise dual plane with a pair of 450cfm Holley's.

Im guessing you got 9mpg also because your truck is huge? Where could i find a list of parts for this swap other than the obvious? Or will it use mostly the same things the EFI motor uses minus the harness? Im still trying to figure out the cheapest route to get a tank behind the rear axel of my 67. I cant see buying a 500$ tank. Im leaning toward finding SOMETHING that can worth in the junk yard.

Re: LS 6.0 480hp carb setup! Nice link!

I think the 7 mpg was a lot of things. Yes i am sure size does matter here. That and my carb tune skills are not the best. I was getting it then i figured i wanted the efi anyways so i just did it. But going from 7 to 13 with only putting the ez efi on says size was not the issue. It was my skills with the carb. There are guys on ls1tech getting 28 mpg in carbed camaros. My truck has 33 inch tires, 700r4 and then 3.73 open gears. 13 is 3 more then i ever figured it would get.

any of you guys using an external fuel pump with the factory tank? Im highly considering using the blazer tank for the rear of my 67. I can find 5.3s all day for 500$ and 6.0s for right at 1000$

You gave soooo very little info for the cam. Lift and LSA doesn't mean anything with out duration for both intake and exhaust and intake centerline.
