Throttle Linkage

I need to build a new linkage to my carb on my 70 with a 350 and an edelbrock carb. What have you guys used for this? I cant seem to find anything. Im looking for something like this that I found in a pic that 68Stepbed had on his truck. Can anyone point me in the right direction.

Re: Throttle Linkage

I used a piece of 1/4" threaded rod and 2 heim joints off Ebay. Less than $20 and works great, looks pretty much like your photo.

You can see the one end on page 4 of my build thread.

Re: Throttle Linkage

I read somewhere on here where guys would use the shift rod off a Harley that most of the Hog guys discard for one with more "bling".

Re: Throttle Linkage

Can anyone tell me what the distance is from the linkage on a Qjet carb to the pedal rod at the rear (ie how long does the rod that connects the two need to be)?

That's basically what I did. Bent a slight offset in the rod to make it line up with the Q-jet. Once I got the length right, I slipped a piece of rubber hose over the threade rod to "clean" it up some.

Re: Throttle Linkage

I agree with heim joints and all thread. Just purchase more length than you need and cut it down. Someone else's measurements are to their preference with their particular joints. Pedal feel, bends, and things in the way at WOT will influence your specific rod length. Good luck.

Just ordered that exact setup. Did you have to modify anything at the pedal end since that hole isnt 1/2"?

Thanks everyone for your help. This is the only thing keeping me from driving my truck, so Im a little eager to get this taken care of.

Didn't have to modify anything. There are step washers that fit the 1/2" hole on the carborator linkage. The bolt is actually 1/4-20. I thought I would have to drill out the pedal rod, but it fit perfectly. Pedal feels great.
