That said, I agree with him it's your fault. Nobody else was driving the skid loader and nobody else was responsible for the safe operation of that skid loader. I would see if his insurance will cover (you can pay the deductible), or maybe you have insurance? One way or the other, I think you'll pay.

Go have a chit chat with a lawyer........ then proceed.

Thanks guys!!!! I brought the skid loader in. It was a underground transformer for an individual owner. Here is a pic of it kind of it was sitting right in the middle of this area. This pic was taken last week. Thanks Randy

Should junk have been piled around a transformer like that. Wonder if that is a violation in itself. It's a shame if you couldn't take pictures. I wouldn't pay, seems as though the jackass was quick to point the finger without any reasoning. I would say that it wasn't your fault, get a consultation from a lawer and go from there. $3,000 can buy you a lot of junk or a god lawyer

OOPS, sorry I guess you do have pictures. You still should have been informed about an electrical tranformer hidden in a pile of junk. If that is the story

Are you sure that was an electric guy? There should have been some kind of warning marker near the transformer. The owner probably knows he was at fault but doesn't want the money to come out of "his" pocket.

Certainly it's reasonable to assume that there won't be a live transformer buried under piles of junk!

Glad you escaped unscathed as well Randy. Your local county or city electric codes would have the specifications for all clearances and boundary specifications regarding that transformer. I'm certain it wouldn't permit any of the conditions you mentioned. The land owner is completely responsible for compliance to, and maintaining all the requirements of the applicable codes. Talking to your insurance carrier and an attorney will certainly protect your rights, not to mention your wallet. Good luck to you.
