It looks like I'm too late to help you, but maybe this will benefit others who are trying to remove old vinyl stripe adhesive.

Soak the area with WD40, and let it sit for 20-40 minutes, depending on outside temp. Then scrape away the residue with an old credit card. It will have turned into a somewhat gummy gelatin which is still very sticky. Then wash the area with something like simple green.

I used to have a detailing business, and I have personally removed MILES of this stuff. Thuis is the easiest way I have found.
