Our trucks are way bigger than a S-10. My company truck is an S-10 and I reach over and roll the window down without hardly even leaning and I cannot do that in my 67 - 72's. The wheel track on a 2002 S-10 is 54.8" and it is 63.1" on a '67 C-10.

A 2002 reg cab S-10 with a 4.3 V6 weighs 3198#. A base 4 cyl model starts at 3016#.

I'm 6'1", they may just seem like smaller cabs to me.

Today's cabs are bigger than the 67-72's, That was one of the supposed selling points for the 73 Chevys when they came out. Today's regular cab longbed trucks have the same wheelbase as a 67-72 Longhorn (133")

Re: Weighed my 1967 and 2011 Chevy trucks

I think the newer trucks just feel bigger. Dimensionally I think a 67 is very close to a 2014. The efficient use of space makes the newer trucks feel much larger than they really are with "cab-forward" designs and all. And, finding a new single cab short wide is not all that easy anymore unless it is a work truck.

Now as far leg room and cab size is concerned, you are absolutely correct. I'm 6' 1" as well, and my S-10 has more leg room than these trucks do. The cab on my S-10 is 52" overall and the door is 46" wide. The cab on my '68 is 45" overall and the door is 39" wide.

The shape of the cab is what really makes them look good to me, but there's no doubt that the size of the cab and design of the floor/cowl/firewall sure limits room.

I have several newer trucks. a 2001 suburban 2500 2wd with a 6.0 lsx engine with 266,000 miles on it. one water pump one knock sensor under the intake and brakes and tires. and still a very nice rig.! i have very very nice 2004 with 140k on it no problems ever!! i think it is about how you take care of them. people forget about the 67-72 the rockers rusted off of them the window regulators wore out on them. i rebuild alot of 67-72 trucks. but the quality on the newer tucks are alot better.
