Red versus blue bowtie

Why are some grill bowties red, some are blue and some are gold? Did they change color for different years?

69/70 blue also on the hood. 67/68 in the grill. Pin patterns on the emblem differ year groups.

Re: Red versus blue bowtie

67/68 Chevys used red,69-72 used blue,'73-80 were yellow, then came gold. I may be off on the yellow to gold. GMC went with red and stayed there. Why fix what ain't broke?
