Dome light help.

I've looked all over lmc and classic parts and cannot find whatever hardware holds the dome light up. The original owner just self tapped through the old base and into the cab. There are no nuts in the original mounting holes, just two holes that looks like a plastic nut clips in. Does anyone have a pic of how that assembly is held in or know where I can get that hardware?
Thanks!

Re: Dome light help.

The housing parts actually has expansion pegs on the back of it so when you press the housing into the cab the pegs go into the holes and expand on the end which holds the whole thing to the cab. I just replace mine since I had the exact same problem.

Yup, just snaps in place. No hardware.

Re: Dome light help.

If your housing is original, the tabs may (and probably will) be broken. If that is the case, I new housing is all you need. You can out pop the metal wiring contacts out the original base and put them in a new one. I've heard people selling these telling people that whole dome light wiring harness has to changed to swap the dome light, but that is not true.

I just did another one this way last month!

I second that. I just replaced mine last week, reused the existing wires into the new assembly. Took 2 minutes

Yes, you have to pop the lense off to change the bulb. If it is original, it very well might crack. I just changed the lense and the base on mine when I did the bulb. I think it is was like $16 for the whole assembly.
